Well, what can be said of the Murphy tartan? This tartan has more story to it than most, in that it purports to be an Irish tartan. Though there are some who would still claim it, it does appear that this tartan is a color-swap from the MacLean of Duart, and it has been sufficiently argued that the tartan doesn’t have any history older than its spontaneous assignment.
