Bixia Earrings

Description

The Bixia Earrings are an original design based on the Four Winds pattern featuring hand woven chainmaille knots in stainless steel that lead to a sparkling premium crystal teardrop. All materials are stainless steel and will never rust or tarnish. French ear hooks are surgical grade stainless steel and safe for those with metal allergies. Earrings measure just over 2 inches long from the top of the ear hook where it sits in the earlobe. Weight is approximately 0.1 oz each.

This design immediately reminded me of traditional Chinese knots, so I chose the name Bixia after the ancient mother goddess or Lady of the Blue Dawn (Bìxiá Yuánjūn 碧霞元君.) She is predominantly seen in northern provinces, though the worship of mother goddesses is present all over China as a representation of fertility, reproduction, and growth. Bixia herself is identified by Taoists as the more ancient goddess Xiwangmu, the goddess of life and immortality.
